Recreational Reading, Morons and Semi-Degenerate Gamblers

The week has been a fairly quiet one. The Orioles have played their way back into contention dn are only a game and a half back of the division leading Red Sox. We have a weekend series with the Tigers that has serious wild car implications. We then head into a three week stretch that see 7 games against Boston and 3 with Toronto with the Diamondbacks and rays also in the year end stretch. He teams fat is in their own hands and the pitching staff has to step up big for us to make the playoffs and maybe even win the division. It is going to be a fun last few weeks with a couple of team capable of making a run should the front runner falter and currently there are 6 AL and 4 NL teams in serious Wild Car contention.

To top it all off both Carl Hiassen and James Lee Burke have had novels out in the past week and a half and both are home runs off the highest order. If you are familiar with these two authors make sure you get the latest as soon as possible. Both are great reads. If you are not familiar go ahead and start back at the beginning and work your way forward with both of them. You will thank me as both are prolific talented writers who tell a great story and as bonus all that reading will dramatically reduce your TV time. New releases form John Sanford, The next installment of the Jesse Stone series started by the late Robert parker and carried on in fine fashion by Reed Farrel Coleman and the newest Badge of Honor offering form W.E.B.
